Daniel said "Shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." (Daniel 12:4)
Well, that would be now. For the last 6,000 years, the height of transportation technology pretty much consisted of horses... until the last century. Suddenly cars, airplanes, and space shuttles took over the world.
Knowledge increased? Ask any 10 year-old to answer virtually any question, and within seconds he'll be on the internet with an answer.
Jesus said that, "the gospel must first be published among all nations." (Mark 13:10)
Never before in history has such a thing been possible. Now however, it's more than conceivable... it's reality. With the internet, satellite, and radio, the Gospel can truly reach every corner of the world. The Bible has been translated into over 1,300 languages and dialects!
10 years ago, no one had heard of the European Union. Now they're making world headlines daily... negotiating for peace in the Middle East... establishing their single currency system across the old Roman states... establishing their international justice system, and yes, even criticizing Christianity. The European Union was formed with the signing of a document called the "Rome Treaty" and was literally born in Rome.
Implantable microchips are making headlines on a weekly basis. Following 9/11, there is serious talk about a need for improved security and identification methods. Companies like Digital Angel are discussing using their products for commerce. A cashless society is essentially here already, with cash remaining only as a convenience, rather than a necessity. (Most people only use cash for fastfood and very small items)
Jesus warned, "And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. " (Matthew 24:12)
The love of many has certainly grown cold. It happened so subtley, we didn't notice... but it's indisputably a fact. Fifty years ago, were highschoolers walking into schools killing their classmates in droves? Today it's a daily fact and hardly gets our attention. Fifty years ago were mothers drowning and killing their babies on a daily basis? Today it's sadly common news. We are no longer shocked my anything. Nudity, profanity, violence... it's all a part of our popular culture now. Words which would make a woman blush fifty years ago are now heard daily on TV. Our courts find child pornography legal, so long as it's simulated. We know no shame.
For the last 2,000 years, Israel didn't even exist. Only in the last generation has it even existed!(It became a nation again, in 1948) Exactly as foretold by Ezekiel, it has sprung back to life! What's more incredible, it makes headlines every single day! (Amazing, considering it's small population and it's tiny geographical size)
Is anyone seeing a trend here?
Is anyone so blind that they cannot?
Even the secular members of society are making jokes about us being on the verge of Armageddon and the Rapture. Even they recognize the similarities between our beliefs and current world events.
For thousands of years, life continued as it always had... until now.
In the last 50 years, nearly every piece of the prophetic puzzle has suddenly and dramatically fallen into place.
If we do not recognize the obviousness of it, it's only because it seems too good to be true. It's only because we are blinded by our own amazement... we stare in disbelief and ask ourselves, "Am I really seeing what I'm seeing?" ...but if we look at it impartially, and analyze it practically, I think the answer is obvious.
You can claim, "Countless previous generations have believed it was imminent, and they were all mistaken. We are no different," but you're wrong. We are very different.
We have 50 years worth of signs and wonders which all point to one thing. 50 years worth of consistent and remarkable fulfillments which previous generations did not have.
Is it a coincidence that all of these things have occurred within mere decades of each other, after thousands of years of silence?
Jesus wouldn't have given us the signs to watch for, if He'd planned on fooling us with a 'close imitation' of the real thing.
Certainly, it may still be several years away; but I for one have no doubt whatsoever that we'll be the generation to witness the Rapture.
